The Bar Exam Is Over...Let The Mayhem Begin!

Although life in Telluride has been nothing short of a dream come true, there was one proverbial 800-pound Abominable Snowman in the room: the Colorado bar exam. I had been studying for that test for what seemed like an eternity, but on February 27 at about 4:30p.m., I was a free man! I practically bowled over weary test-takers as I raced out of the Denver Convention Center, hopped in my car, and headed back west to the San Juans to rendezvous with the gong show that was incoming.
First suspect: my younger (and often wiser) brother, Dane. As always, Dane brought his A-game, both to the festivities and to the mountain. It did not appear that he had any trouble skiing after a two-month layoff.
Chris(tophe Michel) Hayes, our law school buddy, ventured in from Houston, where he is currently undermining the system from within. Chris moves with surprising grace for a man of his considerable stature. It was continually comical to watch Lauren and Chris moving in the liftlines together.
Rounding out the visiting triumvirate was my fraternity brother and law school classmate, Captain Rob Ozols, currently of Atlanta. Rob's contributions, olfactory and otherwise, to the weekend cannot be overstated. Rob was often seen chugging Red Bulls and charging on long ridge hikes.
As would be expected in a post-bar celebration, we had a pretty okay time. Our days were packed with plenty of skiing. A snowy third day paved the way for a rather epic last day filled with lung-busting climbs, which culminated in a summit of Palmyra Peak. While our college days are clearly behind us, the nights were still on the gluttonous side, with delicious food and libations helping us recover from a hard day on the hill.

Without question, the long weekend was a perfect contrast to the dull memorization of arcane rules of criminal procedure. With the bar exam done, now I can concentrate on truly important matters, like getting married and going skiing!!! With my twin loves in one spot, I am truly a lucky man.
